Stephen has worked for 20 years as a clinician in the areas of life threatening illness, mental health, dual diagnosis and early intervention. His primary therapeutic orientations are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Stephen’s doctoral project employed the social ecological model and participatory action research method to develop and evaluate an inter-sectorial approach to overcoming the barriers to the better care of people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
He has a number of publications in the areas of health psychology and dual diagnosis. A major part of his role over the past seven years has been supervision and consultation with psychologists, and other clinical disciplines.
Stephen is a member of APS Collage of Clinical Psychologists and an accredited supervisor for the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria. Stephen presently works part time with Peninsula Headspace as a consultant supervisor and as a Clinical Psychologist in private practice at several locations including Peninsula Headspace. He specializes in dual diagnosis and working with young people.
